March 9th, 2011generalThe customs of certain countries might be different from the others. Sometimes, in one country accepts it, meanwhile the others reject it as part of the improper attitude. For instance, the tradition of sending flowers in French is different from the one in West Germany. In France, you always send flowers before you visit someone’s house for dinner, but do not dispatch chrysanthemums flowers because they are for funerals. In West Germany, sending red roses to someone considers as you are falling in love with the person who is expected to receive it. Another similarity, in Switzerland, if you send three stalks of roses means that you are sweethearts.
There are more ways indicating polite attitudes towards your family, friends, or colleagues. Sending flowers is one of them in order showing an appreciation towards other people that you respect them. Moreover, this kind of tradition has been kept for many years from the ancient times. Once you send a bucket of flowers, or other gifts, it means that you maintain a good relationship with them. Gift baskets deliberate as a high approval to the receivers from the senders. In Indonesia, for example, the end of the year most of the young businessmen send gift baskets to their colleagues. The gift baskets can contain a kitchen set, coffee from certain brand, cookies, or drinks, etc. They believe that by sending those gifts, or flowers the business relationships can be maintained for a long time. Since every part of the countries has different customs to show their gratitude, we need to be open-minded and understand at least a little bit of them. So, we will be gracefully accepted by other people in different societies. One more thing that you need to keep in mind is that if you cannot send flowers or gift baskets at least you send gift cards with proper words inside. Understanding other people make us rich of affections.
