Biofilm In Swimming Pools The Cause of Pool Problems Biofilm In Swimming Pools The Cause of Pool ProblemsOne of the largest and most neglected problems in biofilms swimming pool care. Form biofilms in all areas of the pool, and contain about 99% of bacteria in the pool. Chlorine and bromine can only do so much to remove and clean the biofilms because they only reach the upper layers. To effectively remove and prevent biofilm, there are several steps that need to be taken.

First things first let’s talk about how to form biofilms. Biofilm is mainly to find a place to grow, and that may in any or all parts of your pool, not only on the walls of your pool, but also all through your filter and piping. When the biofilm found a place to grow it began colonization. This is where bacteria begin to grow rapidly. Next comes the protection, the biofilm will begin issuing a protective coating which is resistant to most chemicals including chlorine and bromine. This layer is usually very slimy, and weight that make it difficult for chemicals to penetrate and kill bacteria to treat the core. When the protective layer is formed, the bacteria experienced rapid growth again. While chlorine and bromine will attack and kill the outer layer, inner layer continues to grow and multiply. Once the biofilm has reached significant proportions, began to break up separately, and re-distributes itself over your pond.

So how do you deal with a variety of bacteria?

There are several steps that need to be taken. Regular cleaning of the surface of the pond you can help, but can only get you so far. You also have to use chemicals specifically designed to eliminate biofilm in your skimmer filter, and plumbing. This is where most of the biofilm grow and thrive because they are not visible, untreated, and all they need to survive and grow (water, surface to grow, and many nutrients flowing through your system). There are several products on the market that helps to eliminate the source of nutrients to help the growth of biofilms, but they are very resistant against time to time. You need to use products designed to completely kill the biofilm, rather than just treating the spread.

There are also some effects on biofilm medication if you have not done before. If left untreated for an extended period of time, you will chemically clean your filter after biofilm drug. You also may need to at least replace your filter media.

Once you successfully remove biofilms in the pool or spa, there are a few products, and tips on maintenance to help prevent them from forming in the first place. Suggested regularly brush your pool, it will make it easier for chlorine or bromine to eliminate biofilm view because it is not attached to any surface. Also, you’ll want to find a product that helps to keep your filter clean and running at optimal levels.

It is also important that you regularly use a filter cleaning products. This will reduce the amount of biofilm that can build up in your filter in the first place. You better filtering, your filter will last longer, and you also have the opportunity to develop a low chlorine combined.
